A tyre cannot be repaired when the damage is in the sidewall or shoulder, when the hole is too large, or when it was driven flat and the inner wall is damaged. Old, cracked or badly worn tyres are also replaced, not patched.
It is a temporary fix. A string plug seals the hole, but nobody has seen the inside of the tyre, where damage from running low hides. A patch-plug fitted from inside after inspection is the lasting repair, and that is what we arrange.
Heat is the reason. Road surfaces on and around Yas Island get very hot in summer, and an under-inflated tyre flexes more and builds extra heat until it fails. Check pressures monthly while the tyres are cold, and have slow leaks repaired early.
