FAQ

Batteries and fitment

What information helps you bring the right battery?

Send your car’s make, model and year. A clear photo of the current battery and its label helps us check the required type and fitment. We will confirm any further details needed.

What warranty comes with a new battery?

Fitted batteries carry a warranty of up to 24 months, depending on the battery. The exact period is written on your invoice.

Does my start-stop car need a special battery?

Yes. Start-stop cars need an AGM or EFB battery. A car that came with AGM must be fitted with AGM again, and many European cars also need the new battery registered to the car.

What happens to my old battery?

We take the old battery away for recycling at no charge, unless you prefer to keep it.

Can I fit a normal battery in a start-stop car?

No. A conventional battery is not built for constant restarts and will fail early. Start-stop cars need EFB or AGM, matched to what the manufacturer fitted.

What happens if the new battery is not registered?

The car keeps charging as if the old, worn battery were still fitted. That can overcharge or undercharge the new battery and shorten its life, and start-stop may stay disabled.

Which cars need battery registration?

Most BMW and MINI models with a battery sensor, many Audi and Volkswagen models, and a number of other European cars. Tell us the model and year and we will confirm.

Why has my start-stop stopped working?

The car switches start-stop off when the battery is too weak to restart the engine reliably. It is often the first sign that the battery is near the end of its life.

FAQ

Jump starts and testing

Do I need a battery replacement or a jump start?

That depends on the battery’s condition and the cause of the starting problem. The technician tests the battery and explains whether a jump start or a replacement is appropriate.

How long should I drive after a jump start?

Plan on at least 30 minutes of steady driving so the alternator can put useful charge back. Short hops around the island are not enough for a deeply discharged battery.

Can a jump start damage my car’s electronics?

Done correctly it is safe. We use protected jump equipment and the connection points the manufacturer specifies, which avoids the voltage spikes that cause problems with cable-to-cable jumps.

Why did my battery die again the day after a jump?

That usually means the battery can no longer hold charge, or the alternator is not charging it. A test after the jump start tells you which one it is.

Can you jump-start a car in a basement or mall car park?

Yes, where the car is accessible. Send the parking level, bay number and nearest entrance, and mention any height limit so we bring the right equipment.

Will you jump-start a swollen or leaking battery?

No. A swollen, cracked or leaking battery is unsafe to jump. In that case the battery is replaced instead.

How often should a car battery be tested in the UAE?

Once a year is sensible, ideally before summer, and at every service once the battery is over two years old. Heat ages batteries faster here than in cooler climates.

Is it the battery or the alternator?

A test separates the two. If the battery is healthy but the charging voltage is low, the alternator or its wiring is the likely cause, and a new battery would not fix it.

Can I book a battery check before a planned journey?

Yes. Contact us with your vehicle details and preferred time and we will confirm availability for a battery check at your location.

Do I have to replace the battery if it tests weak?

No. We show you the result and explain the risk. Many drivers choose to replace a weak battery before summer, but the decision is yours.
