On most recent Polestar models, yes. The battery management system adapts charging to battery age, and registration resets it for the new one. We do this on site with a diagnostic tool. Older models without battery management do not need it.
It supports the electronics while the engine restarts during start-stop, so screens and lights do not dip. When it wears out, start-stop is disabled and a message appears. We test both batteries on your Polestar and replace only what has failed.
Yes. An electric Polestar uses a 12V battery for its locks, screens and control units, and to switch on the high-voltage system. If it fails the car will not wake. We can power the 12V side, test the battery and replace it on site.
